Composite Veneers

Composite veneers are a cost-effective, pain-free and non-invasive treatment. We use them to restore the entire surface of your teeth whilst leaving your natural ones untouched.

Composite veneers are used to improve the appearance of teeth. They are made from tooth-coloured resin. This resin is sculpted directly onto teeth to create natural-looking results. This cosmetic dental treatment offers a more accessible and less invasive alternative to traditional porcelain veneers. Composite veneers can correct imperfections, such as discolouration, misalignments, gaps and chips. The procedure requires minimal tooth preparation as teeth are rarely shaved so more of the natural tooth structure is preserved when compared to other treatments.

Similarly to composite edge bonding, composite veneers use thin layers of a colour-matched, putty-like resin material to change the shape and colour of your teeth - the result is a perfectly symmetrical, white smile.

Who are composite veneers for?

Composite veneers are an option for those who are looking to correct minor cosmetic dental issues, such as chips, gaps, slight misalignments and tooth discolouration. They are the ideal option for those who are seeking a quick and minimally invasive treatment to enhance their smile.

You may not be a suitable candidate if you are suffering from severe dental issues or if you are looking for a more durable and long-lasting solution like porcelain veneers. Candidates must also have good oral health.

Our experienced dentists will examine you to ensure that you are a suitable candidate. We will also discuss your options with you.

What are the benefits?

Composite veneers can improve your smile and fix multiple issues without being invasive or too costly.

The primary benefits of composite veneers are they are cost-effective and the treatment can be performed relatively quickly. Unlike porcelain veneers, which require off-site manufacturing, composite veneers can be applied in a single visit making them a time-efficient and cost-effective solution.

The procedure rarely requires the teeth to be shaved which means the natural enamel is retained, so it’s not an invasive treatment.  Composite veneers are repairable and can be adjusted after the initial treatment so they can be maintained for longevity.

How are composite veneers fitted?

Fitting of composite veneers can be carried out in one appointment, although an initial consultation is required, and the procedure is manually invasive. Our experienced dentists will initially select a shade of resin that closely matches your natural teeth colour. The tooth surface will be lightly etched to enhance adhesion. The composite resin that applied directly onto the tooth surface and sculpted into shape. Once the resin has been shaped, the resin is cured with a special light. The veneer is finally polished to achieve a natural-looking finish.

How do you care for composite veneers?

You should follow good dental hygiene practices, such as brushing twice a day, using mouth washing and flossing regularly. You should avoid foods and drinks that can discolour your teeth. You should use a soft-bristled toothbrush and non-abrasive toothpaste. Composite veneers are typically applied to your front teeth so you should avoid biting into hard food, like apples, or objects with your front teeth. Regular check-ups are required to assess the condition of your veneers.

  • Should I have composite bonding or composite veneers?
Composite bonding is the perfect treatment to address cracks, chips or gaps on the edges of your teeth. Veneers, however, are designed to cover the entire front surface of your teeth. Whether composite bonding or veneers is the right treatment for you depends on your existing teeth and treatment goals. If you want to change the shape, size or symmetry of your teeth, veneers will be more suitable - whereas we can easily fix a few small chips or cracks using composite edge bonding.
