How it works
Invisalign uses the latest technology to straighten your teeth effectively, discreetly and quickly. Invisalign straightens teeth using a series of nearly invisible, removable aligners that are custom-made specifically for your teeth.

As you replace each aligner every two weeks, your teeth will move towards the projected final position. We will review your progress every 8-10 weeks with you at the practice. Aligners must be worn for around 20-22 hours per day for maximum effectivity.

How is Invisalign fitted?
An initial consultation is required to determine if Invisalign is the correct treatment for you. If you are a suitable candidate, we follow these steps:
-
We will take 3D scans, x-rays, and photos of your teeth. This will allow us to create a mould as Invisalign aligners are bespoke to each individual.
-
We will send the mould to Invisalign, who will create your Invisalign trays. This typically takes 2 to 3 weeks.
-
When your Invisalign trays are ready, we will fit small attachments to your teeth to keep the trays in place.
-
You can then wear your aligners. You need to wear them for between 20 to 22 hours per day for them to take effect. You can remove them to eat and drink, along with brushing and flossing.
-
You will change your aligners every 1 to 2 weeks, gradually moving your teeth into place.
You will have follow-up appointments every 4 weeks so we can check your progress.
Who is Invisalign® for?
Invisalign is ideal for those with spacing issues, bite issues, and crooked teeth caused by crowding who want a discreet correction method. They are an ideal solution for adults whose teeth aren’t too crooked.
However, Invisalign might not be a good fit for everyone. Traditional braces are required for more extreme cases of alignment and spacing issues as they are stronger and can be used to greater effect, but they are far less discreet. Oral health issues, such as gum disease, will need to be resolved before your teeth can be corrected with Invisalign.
How long does Invisalign® last?
The duration of Invisalign treatments can vary depending on the patient. Treatments can last between 6 and 18 months. The results are permanent.
However, a fixed retainer may be fitted, and/or you will need to wear a retainer every night for a year to ensure that the results are maintained.
